When I saw the first pics and previews of Norwegian based Berg&Berg S/S ´13 collection, I was really impressed and inspired. I’ve had few experiences of their products and so far I’ve been really happy and satisfied with them.
A while ago I approached Mathias and Karin to ask their thoughts about the new collection and they were kind to take the time to answer the questions in the middle of all the rush and hurry as they’ve just been launching the collection. And now I’m happy to share the answers with you all.
1) How would you describe the S/S collection?
M: It´s classic and colourful, but it´s made with a Scandinavian eye. That means that we have tried to work with raw silks, linen and cottons rather than shiny silks and suede and vachetta rather than shiny leathers. Even though summer means brighter colours, we are not making a loud, brash collection.
2) What was your main source of inspiration for the collection?
M: We are not a mood board - “inspired by a trip to Capri” - kind of company. There are so many impressions that form one´s taste, however: Meeting other people in the industry, browsing Tumblrs and magazines, old Apparel arts illustrations, people watching as well as discussing fabrics and ideas with suppliers. We are a product driven company, not a lifestyle brand. It´s about the fabrics, the manufacturing and the details, rather than looking good in a lookbook.
